Abstract:Osebnostna rast na delovnem mestu predstavlja pomemben del sodobnega razumevanja dela, saj presega zgolj opravljanje nalog in poudarja razvoj zaposlenih kot posameznikov.

Title:Personal development in the workplace
Abstract:Personal growth in the workplace is an essential aspect of contemporary work, as it goes beyond task performance and emphasizes the development of employees as individuals. The aim of this master’s thesis was to explore how employees experience personal growth and to identify the factors that foster or hinder it. The research is positioned within the fields of organizational psychology and management, with the theoretical framework drawing on models of intentional self-change and personal initiative, which define growth as a process of intrinsic motivation, deliberate action, and access to environmental resources. In the empirical part, a quantitative study was conducted using an anonymous employee survey, focusing on the influence of employment status, leadership, psychological safety, workload, and stress on perceptions of growth. The results suggest that personal growth is not a given in the workplace, as it is often constrained by status differences and chronic workload, while supportive leadership, mentoring, constructive feedback, and encouragement of learning enhance the sense of growth. The study concludes that personal growth is shaped by the interplay of individual initiative and organizational conditions. It is recommended that organizations invest in psychological safety, foster developmental relationships, and implement strategies to manage workload, thereby creating conditions in which employee well-being and development are recognized as strategic levers of long-term organizational success.
