Abstract:Uvod: Nasilje nad medicinskimi sestrami je resen globalni problem zdravja pri delu in eden največjih izzivov sodobnih bolnišnic.

Title:Exposure to patient violence as a risk factor for burnout in nurses
Abstract:Introduction: Workplace violence against nurses represents a serious global occupational health problem and one of the significant challenges faced by modern hospitals. It reduces the sense of safety and job satisfaction while increasing the risk of psychological distress and burnout. Methods: In the theoretical part, we used a descriptive method. In the empirical part, we conducted a survey using a questionnaire adapted from an existing study that includes a workplace violence scale, a job satisfaction scale, a social support assessment scale, a burnout scale, and a scale measuring nurses' intentions to change jobs. The purpose of the thesis is to examine the impact of patient violence on the risk of burnout among nurses. Results: The survey involved 130 nurses employed in secondary and tertiary healthcare. We found that nurses employed in emergency services and intensive psychiatric wards reported greater exposure to patient violence (M = 6,4; SD = 4,0) compared to those working in other healthcare units (M = 3,9; SD = 4,2), while differences in burnout were not statistically significant (p > 0,05). Discussion and conclusion: Managing and reducing workplace violence significantly reduces the risk of burnout, while higher job satisfaction is associated with lower levels of burnout and a reduced intention to leave the profession.
