Literaturo smo iskali in pregledali v tujih podatkovnih bazah: PubMed, CINAHL Ultimate, Cochrane Library, Medline in Web of Science. Potek iskanja literature smo prikazali v PRISMA diagramu.

Title:Impact of e-cigarette smoking on the development of cardiovascular disease in young adults
Abstract:Introduction: Electronic cigarettes have become a widespread form of nicotine use over the past decade, especially among young adults, where they are often perceived as a "safer" alternative to traditional smoking. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the impact of their use on the risk of developing cardiovascular disease in young adults. Methods: We conducted a review of the scientific literature. We searched for and reviewed literature in foreign databases: PubMed, CINAHL Ultimate, Cochrane Library, Medline, and Web of Science. We presented the literature search process in a PRISMA diagram. Finally, we performed a narrative synthesis of the collected studies. Results: A total of 366 records were identified, of which 9 sources were included in the final analysis. The findings show that electronic cigarette aerosols contain nicotine, heavy metals, aldehydes, and other toxic substances associated with oxidative stress, inflammation, and endothelial dysfunction. Acute hemodynamic effects are described: even a single use can increase heart rate by 3–4 beats/min and systolic blood pressure by 2–3 mmHg; with regular use, the effects are repeated and may contribute to early atherosclerotic changes. Increased arterial stiffness and a higher risk of arrhythmias, hypertension, stroke, and acute myocardial infarction have also been reported. Discussion and conclusion: Although electronic cigarettes are advertised as a less harmful alternative to traditional cigarettes, research shows that their use poses numerous health risks. E-cigarettes are becoming increasingly popular among young adults due to their appealing flavors, the influence of social media, and their easy availability.
