Abstract:Uvod: Depresija predstavlja eno najpogostejših duševnih motenj sodobnega časa, ki bistveno vpliva na posameznikovo delovanje, čustveno počutje in kakovost življenja. Vključene so bile randomizirane kontrolirane študije, eksperimentalne in opazovalne raziskave. Podatki so prikazani z evalvacijsko tabelo in PRISMA diagramom.

Title:The effect of physical activity on depression symptoms
Abstract:Introduction: Depression is one of the most prevalent mental health disorders, significantly affecting individuals' functioning, emotional state, and overall quality of life. In recent years, non-pharmacological treatments have gained increasing attention, with physical activity emerging as a key strategy. Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted across PubMed, CINAHL, MEDLINE, ScienceDirect, and SAGE databases, covering the period from 2015 to 2025. The review included randomized controlled trials, experimental and observational studies that examined the impact of physical activity on depressive symptoms in adults with a confirmed diagnosis. Findings were summarized using an evaluation table and illustrated with a PRISMA diagram. Results: Thirteen studies met the inclusion criteria. The results indicate that regular physical activity—particularly aerobic and resistance exercise—significantly reduces depressive symptoms, enhances cognitive function, improves self-esteem, and contributes to better quality of life Discussion and conclusion: Physical activity presents an effective and accessible intervention for reducing depressive symptoms and can serve as a valuable complement or alternative to traditional treatments. Promoting its implementation in mental health care and further investigating its long-term effects and personalized applications is essential
