Title:Early childhood professional's perspectives and practice on using music for children's emotional self-regulation
Abstract:The thesis discusses the views and practice of early childhood professionals in kindergartens on using music for preschool children's emotional self-regulation. Childhood is a time of intense emotional and social development, and the ability to regulate emotions is key to successful integration into a group, forming relationships and overcoming everyday challenges. Music plays a special role in this process, as it acts as a tool for calming, it promotes joy, reduces tension and enables children to express their inner experience. Seven kindergarten teachers who were involved in the research described their experience in practice. We used a qualitative research method in the research, and the teachers described their practical experience with using music. The results show that kindergarten teachers who participated in the research often use music to calm children, to make transition between activities, to motivate, increase energy and even resolve conflicts. The importance of teachers' singing is also emphasized, since it provides children with a sense of security and connection.
