Title:	Word formation in the context of contextual grammar teaching of Slovenian as a non-first language
Abstract:	In morphemically rich languages such as Slovenian, knowledge of word formation is very important in the acquisition of a language as a non-first language, but various studies have found that word-formation content in the teaching of languages as non-first languages is unsystematically presented and under-represented. This paper presents a contextual approach to the teaching of word-formation and other grammatical content in Slovenian as a non-first language, thus introducing a more complete approach to the teaching of Slovenian grammar that takes into account the diversity of the Slovenian word-formation mechanism alongside other grammatical content. The approach is grounded in communicative contexts, which make it possible to target contextually relevant derivative types, with a nest-based word-formation method and a focus on the word-formation level of instruction at its core.
