Abstract:V luksuzni industriji dobavna veriga ne predstavlja zgolj operativnega sistema oskrbe, temveč pomemben del ustvarjanja vrednosti, saj je neposredno povezana s kakovostjo izdelkov, ekskluzivnostjo, zaščito redkih virov in ugledom blagovne znamke. V ospredju so značilnosti luksuzne industrije, kjer so redki materiali, specializirana obrtniška znanja, nadzor nad kakovostjo in skrbno upravljanje dobaviteljske mreže ključni za ohranjanje ekskluzivnosti.

Title:Strategic suppy chain management in luxury industry: a case study of the LVMH group
Abstract:In the luxury industry, the supply chain does not represent merely an operational system of supply, but also an important part of value creation, as it is directly linked to product quality, exclusivity, the protection of scarce resources, and brand reputation. In luxury conglomerates such as LVMH, strategic decisions within the supply chain affect not only business efficiency, but also the preservation of brand identity and long-term competitive advantage. This master’s thesis examines the role of strategic supply chain management in the luxury industry through the case of the LVMH Group. Particular attention is devoted to vertical integration, supply risk management, supply chain resilience, and the integration of sustainability practices, as these elements significantly influence a company’s ability to preserve the high perceived value of its products in a luxury environment. The focus is placed on the specific characteristics of the luxury industry, where rare materials, specialised artisanal knowledge, quality control, and the careful management of supplier networks are essential for maintaining exclusivity. The findings show that LVMH strengthens its competitive advantage through a high degree of control over key parts of the supply chain, the protection of strategic resources and know-how, and the deliberate integration of sustainability practices into brand identity. Vertical integration emerges as an important mechanism for protecting quality and reputation, while strategic risk management represents a crucial condition for supply chain resilience in the context of geopolitical uncertainty, limited resource availability, and increasing demands for traceability and responsible business conduct. The case under review confirms that, in the luxury industry, strategic supply chain management is an important factor of differentiation, long-term stability, and the preservation of brand value.
