Abstract:

Title:
Association between perceived work environment and job satisfaction among community nurses in slovenia
Abstract:
Introduction: The concept of a quality work environment is becoming increasingly important in nursing care. In the master’s thesis, we examined how community nurses in Slovenia perceive their work environment and analysed the relationship between the work environment and job satisfaction. Methods: The empirical part of the study employed a quantitative research methodology. Data were collected through a survey of community nurses across Slovenia. The internationally validated PES-NWI questionnaire served as the research instrument for assessing the perceived work environment in health care. A total of 286 community nurses participated in the study. Results: The study examining the perception of the work environment and job satisfaction among Slovenian community nurses shows that they generally view their work environment as favourable. With the average PES-NWI score (M = 2.85) exceeding results reported in some international and national studies. Discussion and Conclusion: The results of our study indicate a strong professional identity and high intrinsic motivation among community nurses in Slovenia. Despite generally positive indicators, the analysis highlights shortcomings in leadership competencies and certain organizational processes. Enhancing working conditions has a demonstrably positive impact on job satisfaction and work–life balance of employees.
