Abstract:Povzetek Uvod: Avtentično vodenje predstavlja sodoben pristop k voditeljstvu, ki temelji na etični doslednosti, transparentnosti in samozavedanju. Podatki so bili analizirani z uporabo opisne statistike in Spearmanovega korelacijskega koeficienta ter neparametričnih testov Mann Whitney U test in Kruskal Wallis H test. Razprava in zaključek: Rezultati potrjujejo pomembno vlogo avtentičnega vodenja v zdravstveni negi v slovenskem prostoru. Etično, transparentno in odnosno usmerjeno vodenje lahko pomembno prispeva h krepitvi zaupanja, motivacije zaposlenih ter k oblikovanju podpornega delovnega okolja v zdravstvenih timih. Ugotovitve raziskave poudarjajo pomen nadaljnjega razvoja vodstvenih kompetenc ter spodbujanja sodobnih pristopov vodenja v zdravstvenih organizacijah.

Title:Perception of authentic leadership by nursing staff
Abstract:Abstract Introduction: Authentic leadership represents a contemporary leadership approach grounded in ethical consistency, transparency, and self-awareness. In nursing, it plays a significant role in shaping the work environment, trust, and staff motivation. The aim of this master’s thesis was to examine the perceived level of authentic leadership and its relationship with trust in the leader and employee motivation. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted among 335 nursing employees in four healthcare institutions. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire including the validated Authentic Leadership Questionnaire (ALQ) as well as scales measuring trust in the leader and employee motivation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Spearman’s correlation coefficient and non-parametric tests, including the Mann–Whitney U test and the Kruskal–Wallis H test. Results: Employees perceived authentic leadership to be moderately present. A statistically significant positive correlation was found between authentic leadership and trust in the leader (r = 0.286; p < 0.001), as well as a strong positive correlation with employee motivation (r = 0.837; p < 0.001). Discussion and Conclusion: The results confirm the significant role of authentic leadership in nursing within the Slovenian context. Ethical, transparent, and relationship-oriented leadership practices can significantly contribute to strengthening trust, enhancing employee motivation, and fostering a supportive work environment within healthcare teams. The findings underscore the importance of further developing leadership competencies and promoting contemporary leadership approaches in healthcare organizations.
