Abstract:Uvod: Nefarmakološko lajšanje bolečine pri onkoloških bolnikih prispeva k boljšemu razumevanju uporabe različnih terapevtskih pristopov, kar lahko vpliva na izboljšanje kakovosti življenja. Kakovostna oskrba pomeni združevanje medicinskih in komplementarnih terapij. To izboljšuje rezultate in dvigujejo zadovoljstvo bolnikov.

Title:The importance of non-pharmacological methods for pain relief in oncology patients
Abstract:Introduction: Non-pharmacological pain management in cancer patients contributes to a better understanding of the use of various therapeutic approaches, which can help improve quality of life. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate, based on a literature review, which non-pharmacological methods are used for pain relief in cancer patients. Methods: The study was based on a descriptive method, through which we systematically collected relevant scientific sources, analyzed and synthesized them, and presented the results accordingly. We searched for professional literature in the CINAHL, PubMed, and Cochrane Library databases. The literature selection process is illustrated using a PRISMA diagram, and the synthesis is based on a detailed review of 18 articles included in the final analysis. Results: Acupuncture, acupressure, foot reflexology, and heat and cold therapy are methods used to relieve physical pain in cancer patients. Cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness meditation, and hypnosis are recommended for managing psychological factors. Pain relief for cancer patients also includes social (educational and counseling programs/therapies) and spiritual (spiritual care through prayer and/or the involvement of a spiritual caregiver) methods. Discussion and conclusion: Integrating multiple approaches yields the best results for pain relief in cancer patients. High-quality care involves combining medical and complementary therapies. This improves outcomes and increases patient satisfaction.
