Abstract:V nalogi smo izpostavili izziv optimizacije stroškovne učinkovitosti in zmogljivosti računalništva v oblaku, ki je zaradi vse večjega preseljevanja aplikacij v oblačne infrastrukture vse bolj pomemben.

Title:Analysis and comparison of container scheduling algorithms to optimize application performance in Kubernetes
Abstract:In this master's thesis, we highlight the issue of optimizing cost-effectiveness and performance in cloud computing, which is becoming increasingly important due to growing migration of applications to the cloud. In this regard, the scheduling component of an orchestration platform plays a key role. The aim of this thesis was to review and analyze existing scientific and technical literature, select representative scheduling algorithms and compare them in an experimental Kubernetes environment. The main objective was to analyze the impact of scheduling algorithms on the preformance of an application by using the conducted performance measurements and to discover which scheduling algorithms offer the best performance under increased load. The experimental results show a significant impact of the scheduling algorithm on the application’s throughput, response time and latency. It also significantly impacts the balance of processor and memory resource usage across nodes.
