Abstract:Diplomsko delo obravnava specifike družinskega podjetništva s poudarkom na enem najzahtevnejših mejnikov v življenjskem ciklu podjetja – prenosu vodenja in lastništva na naslednjo generacijo.

Title:Challenges in the succession of ewnership and management in family businesses
Abstract:This thesis explores the specific characteristics of family entrepreneurship, with a primary focus on one of the most challenging milestones in a company's life cycle – the transfer of leadership and ownership to the next generation. The theoretical part defines the core attributes of family businesses, characterized by the intersection of family and business systems. This duality brings unique advantages, such as long-term orientation and high levels of trust, while simultaneously presenting challenges related to subjective decision-making and emotional ties. The empirical part of the thesis is based on a case study of the company Audit & CO d.o.o., conducted through an interview with its founder. The research confirms that the succession process is a long-term endeavor that requires not only the formal acquisition of professional licenses and a gradual transfer of ownership shares but, above all, the psychological readiness of the founder to step back. The key finding of the thesis is that the greatest challenges in succession are linked to informal relationships and the successor's need for autonomy, while professional competence and intergenerational trust form the essential foundation for the successful continuation of the family business tradition.
