Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava analizo vpliva različnih prometnih variant na prometne obremenitve cestnega omrežja levega brega Maribora. Obravnavane so bile štiri variante: hibridni predor pod Gosposvetsko cesto, dolgi predor pod Gosposvetsko cesto, predor pod Glavnim trgom ter kombinacija prve in tretje variante.

Title:Analysis of traffic flows in the area of the Maribor city center using macroscopic simulation
Abstract:This master’s thesis examines the impact of different traffic variants on traffic loads within the road network on the left bank of Maribor. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate how individual variants influence the redistribution of traffic flows and to identify the key differences between them. Four variants were analyzed: a hybrid tunnel under Gosposvetska Street, a long tunnel under Gosposvetska Street, a tunnel under The Main Square, and a combination of the first and third variants. As part of the study, traffic modeling was performed for all listed variants and compared with the existing traffic conditions. Traffic loads were calculated using the VISUM software, applying a stochastic traffic assignment procedure based on origin-destination matrices. The results were presented as differences in traffic loads and further analyzed on selected sections of the road network. The results show that all analyzed variants lead to changes in the traffic system, with traffic gradually being redirected to the main road corridors. It was found that with increasing intensity of interventions, traffic becomes more concentrated on primary roads, while traffic loads on secondary and local roads decrease. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that individual variants affect the balance between traffic flow efficiency and network relief differently. Therefore, selecting the optimal solution requires a comprehensive evaluation of the overall impacts on the traffic system.
