Abstract:V diplomskem delu smo raziskovali povezanost telesne dejavnosti in sedečega vedenja z vrtčevskim okoljem ter morfološkimi značilnostmi predšolskih otrok. Telesno dejavnost otrok smo merili z merilniki ActiGraph. Analizirali smo sedeči čas, zmerno do visoko intenzivno telesno dejavnost (MVPA), skupno telesno aktivnost in število korakov. Otroci iz skupin z višjo oceno MOVERS so bili v povprečju bolj telesno dejavni, opravili več korakov in manj časa preživeli v sedečem vedenju. Rezultati raziskave poudarjajo pomen kakovostnega gibalnega okolja in načrtnega vključevanja gibanja v vsakodnevno življenje vrtca.

Title:The correlation between preschool children’s physical activity and their environment
Abstract:This thesis examines the relationship between physical activity and sedentary behaviour in relation to the preschool environment and the morphological characteristics of preschool children. The aim of the study was to determine whether children's physical activity differs according to sex, age, body mass index (BMI), and the quality of the movement environment in preschool groups, as assessed using the MOVERS scale. The study included 69 preschool children from the second age group of preschool education. Children's physical activity was measured using ActiGraph accelerometers. The following variables were analysed: sedentary time, moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA), total physical activity, and number of steps. Descriptive statistics, independent-samples t-tests, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and Pearson correlation analysis were used for data analysis. The results showed no statistically significant differences in physical activity or sedentary behaviour between boys and girls. Similarly, no statistically significant differences were found with respect to children's age, and no associations were identified between BMI, height, or body mass and indicators of physical activity. However, statistically significant differences were observed in relation to the quality of the movement environment in preschool groups. Children from groups with higher MOVERS scores were, on average, more physically active, accumulated a greater number of steps, and spent less time engaged in sedentary behaviour. The findings highlight the importance of a high-quality movement environment and the systematic integration of movement into everyday preschool life.
