Abstract:V diplomski nalogi so predstavljeni gradniki bralne pismenosti in njihov pomen za otrokov razvoj v predšolskem obdobju.

Title:Promoting reading literacy with folk tales in early childhood education
Abstract:This thesis examines the components of reading literacy and their significance for a child's development in early childhood. It also presents picture books as a special type of book that plays an important role in the early development of literacy and in the significance of reading Slovenian folk tales. The theoretical part defines reading literacy and provides a detailed overview of all nine components of reading literacy. It emphasises the importance of reading within the family and in the kindergarten setting, as well as the importance of choosing high-quality reading materials, particularly picture books, in early childhood. In addition, the characteristics of the fairy tale as a literary genre are presented, with a focus on Slovenian folk tales. The practical part presents reading events inspired by Slovenian folk tales. Each lesson includes a variety of activities designed to develop a specific component of reading literacy, and is based on a selected folk tale: Hvaležni medved (The Grateful Bear), O povodnem možu (The Tale of the Water Man), Jež se ženi (The Hedgehog Gets Married), Babica zima (Grandmother Winter) and Bela kača s kronico (The White Snake with a Crown). The activities are supplemented by an evaluation of their execution, which includes feedback from the children, as well as suggestions for improvements that enable further refinement and higher-quality implementation of the activities in the future.
