Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava vlogo staršev pri zagotavljanju spletne varnosti otrok razredne stopnje osnovne šole.

Title:The role of parents in ensuring online safety for children in the first educational period of primary school
Abstract:This thesis examines the role of parents in ensuring online safety of primary school children in the first educational period. The aim of the study was to investigate how parents perceive online risks, which forms of parental mediation they use to guide their children's internet use, and how parents' education influences their approaches to online safety. The theoretical part presents online risks, children's use of electronic devices, and various forms of parental mediation. The empirical part is based on a quantitative study conducted among 191 parents of children attending the 1st to 5th grades of primary school. In addition, an interview with a police representative is included. The results show that children most frequently use television, smartphones, and computers, while they primarily use the internet for watching videos and playing games. Parents generally perceive the internet as a dangerous environment, with inappropriate content, internet addiction, and cyberbullying being their main concerns. The most commonly used parental mediation strategies include setting time limits, monitoring online content, and discussing safe internet use. The findings indicate that parents with higher levels of education employ more active forms of mediation. The police particularly highlights the increasing prevalence of cyberbullying, contact with strangers online, and the premature use of social media.
