Razprava in zaključek: Zmanjševanje stigmatizacije otrok z rakom zahteva celosten in multidisciplinarni pristop. Pomembno vlogo imajo zdravstveni delavci, družina, šolsko okolje in širša družba. Ugotovitve izpostavljajo pomembnost izobraževanja, odpravljanja napačnih prepričanj o bolezni ter oblikovanje podpornih programov, usmerjenih v izboljšanje psihosocialnega počutja in spodbujanje socialnega vključevanja otrok z rakom.

Title:Stigmatisation of children with cancer
Abstract:Introduction: Children with cancer often face psychological and social challenges in addition to the physical consequences of the disease. Stigmatization may significantly affect self-image, social inclusion, emotional experiences of illness, and quality of life of children and their families. This thesis aims to examine stigmatization among children with cancer and identify strategies for reducing stigma. Methods: A review of scientific and professional literature on stigmatization among children with cancer was conducted. Literature published between 2016 and 2026 was retrieved from CINAHL, PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases. The literature search process was presented using a PRISMA flow diagram. Studies were classified according to the hierarchy of evidence and analysed using content analysis and an evaluation table. Results: Seven studies out of 674 identified records were included in the analysis. Content analysis identified five subcategories: (1) psychosocial impact of stigma, (2) social stigmatization and misconceptions about cancer, (3) impact of stigma on treatment, (4) factors of social support and protection, and (5) stigma reduction strategies. Findings showed that stigmatization affects psychological well-being, social inclusion, and attitudes towards treatment in children with cancer. Education, psychosocial support, awareness raising, and open communication were identified as important strategies for reducing stigma. Discussion and conclusion: Reducing stigmatization requires a holistic and multidisciplinary approach. Healthcare professionals, families, schools, and society play an important role. The findings highlight the importance of education, addressing misconceptions about cancer, and developing supportive programs aimed at improving psychosocial well-being and promoting social inclusion among children with cancer.
