Abstract:V diplomskem delu smo obravnavali vlogo književne vzgoje pri razvijanju gradnikov bralne pismenosti v predšolskem obdobju. Dejavnosti so vključevale poslušanje in obravnavo slikanic, pogovor o vsebini, pripovedovanje, likovno ustvarjanje ter druge spremljajoče dejavnosti.

Title:Literary education and components of reading literacy in preschool period
Abstract:This bachelor's thesis examines the role of literary education in the development of the components of reading literacy during the preschool period. The aim of the study was to explore and determine how planned literary activities based on picture books influence the development of speech, text comprehension and vocabulary enrichment among children aged 4 to 6 years. In the theoretical part of the thesis, reading literacy and its key components are presented, with a particular focus on speech, phonological awareness, vocabulary and text comprehension. Special emphasis is placed on the importance of the early development of these areas and on the role of preschool teachers in planning literary activities and creating a stimulating language environment. In the practical part of the thesis, based on the theoretical framework, several literary activities using selected picture books were designed and implemented in a preschool group of children aged 4 to 6 years. The activities included listening to and discussing picture books, conversations about the content, storytelling, creative art activities and other accompanying activities. Based on the evaluation of the implemented activities, it was found that literary activities significantly contribute to the development of speech, comprehension of content and vocabulary enrichment. During the activities children actively participated, expressed their opinions, developed their imagination and recognized the emotions of literary characters. Through the use of picture books they expanded their vocabulary, improved their text comprehension skills and developed a positive attitude toward books and reading. The findings indicate that literary education plays an important role in developing the components of reading literacy and fostering reading habits already during the preschool period.
