Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava vpliv državnih spodbud in regulativ na oblikovanje konkurenčnih prednosti v industriji električnih vozil.

Title:The role of government incentives and regulations in shaping competitive advantages in the electric vehicle industry
Abstract:The master’s thesis examines the impact of government incentives and regulation on the formation of competitive advantages in the electric vehicle industry. The purpose of the thesis is to analyse how different policy models in the United States, the European Union and China affect the competitive position of Tesla, BYD and Volkswagen. The research is based on Porter’s theory of competitive advantages, the resource-based view of the firm and the theory of dynamic capabilities. The empirical part is designed as a comparative analysis of three companies representing different strategic models in the electric vehicle industry: Tesla as a technology- and software-oriented model, BYD as a battery-integrated model, and Volkswagen as an example of a traditional automotive manufacturer undergoing transformation. The findings show that government policies significantly influence cost competitiveness, innovation, production localisation, supply chains and vertical integration. The American model is mainly based on tax incentives and regional production requirements, the European model on regulatory pressure and climate targets, and the Chinese model on long-term industrial policy and a developed domestic battery value chain. The thesis concludes that government policies do not in themselves represent a sustainable competitive advantage, but rather create conditions that companies can transform into competitive advantage only through appropriate resources, capabilities and strategic adaptability.
