Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava Hosoyev polinom, njegove različice ter z njimi povezane topološke indekse v teoriji grafov in matematični kemiji.

Title:The Hosoya polynomial and its variants on benzenoid chains : magistrsko delo
Abstract:This master's thesis analyzes the Hosoya polynomial, its variants, and the related topological indices in graph theory and mathematical chemistry. Particular emphasis is placed on the study of these graph invariants on benzenoid chains. The first chapter introduces the basic concepts of graph theory required for the subsequent discussion. In the second chapter, we define the Hosoya polynomial, the Schultz and the Gutman polynomial, partial Hosoya polynomials, and the associated topological indices. We also introduce benzenoid graphs and benzenoid chains. In the third chapter, we derive recurrence relations for the Hosoya polynomial and two partial Hosoya polynomials of linear benzenoid chains and then determine their closed forms. The fourth chapter contains the auxiliary results needed for the proof of the main theorem, which is presented in the fifth chapter. This theorem provides a formula expressing the Schultz polynomial and the Gutman polynomial in terms of the Hosoya polynomial. Finally, we state several consequences of the presented results and include some examples.
