Title:COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF PROCEDURES FOR ACQUIRING A CYCLING LICENCE AMONG THE SCHOOLS OF RURAL AND URBAN AREAS IN NORTHEAST SLOVENIA
Abstract:The diploma paper Comparative analysis of procedures for acquiring a cycling licence among the schools of rural and urban areas in northeast Slovenia is divided into a theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part includes safe road crossing and the procedure for acquiring a cycling licence; from theoretical to practical, training on public traffic areas, activities for improving traffic safety, a safe bicycle, psychological basis for traffic safety and traffic safety in the eyes of children. The empirical part presents a research among the students of 5th grade who were taking a test to acquire a cycling licence. In our research we were mostly interested which students are better prepared for a safe bicycle ride, which ones encounter more realistic traffic situations and finally, which ones ride their bikes on better arranged cycling trails. Our research shows significant differences in acquiring cycling licence between the schools in rural areas and the ones in urban areas. In urban areas the traffic is dense, there are more crossings with traffic lights and also the cycling trails are better arranged. This is only rarely the case in rural areas. That is why the students from urban areas get better preparation for bicycle ride on public traffic areas than the students from rural schools. The differences are evident also from the theoretical test, which is more demanding for students from urban areas and it includes 21 questions. Last two questions are related to crossings.
