Title:INTERDISCIPLINARY TEACHING OF ENGLISH AND GEOGRAPHY IN PRIMARY SCHOOL
Abstract:In today's quickly changing time lifelong learning is vital for survival and development. Lifelong learning gives information, knowledge, and also understanding to every individual. Therefore, the interdisciplinary teaching is establishing in schools so students can get permanent knowledge. This thesis discusses interdisciplinary teaching, its forms and other factors that influence it. The correlation between English and Geography, especially considering the team work, has a special role in communication in non-linguistic subjects. A particular emphasis is placed on CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). By analysing the curricula documents, we have established which school subjects are anticipated to link with English and Geography, discussed ideas for cross-curricular integration of English and Geography. The empirical part is based on the results obtained from the interdisciplinary teaching and the results from the students' questionnaires. The findings show that most of the students find the interdisciplinary teaching interesting and would like to have more of such interdisciplinary teaching in the future.
