Abstract:V tem magistrskem delu preučujemo stališča o meditaciji in ocene slovenskih osnovnošolskih učiteljev o njenem vplivu. Najprej predstavljamo teoretično ozadje meditacije, njeno zgodovino, oblike, pomene in raziskave, izvedene v šolstvu.

Title:Meditation in Primary Schools: Teachers´ Attitudes and Assessment
Abstract:In this graduation thesis, we analyze Slovene primary school teacher's attitudes and assesment towards meditation. First, we present the theoretical background of meditation, its history, forms, meanings and research that has been done in educational environment. Then, we focus on the empirical research, where 219 Slovene primary school teachers participated. With the collected data, we could analyze the understanding of meditation, experience with it, attitudes towards taking courses about it and attitudes towards using it in school. We have also examined how teachers assess the influence of meditation on four aspects of a child's development: cognitive, affective, social and psychomotoric development. When analyzing these, we also checked for differences considering demographical data and the effects of past use of meditation in class. The results have shown that most of the teachers see meditation as something pleasant, calming and beneficial and that half of them already use meditation techniques. We have found a statistical significance in the teacher's surroundings, for there are more teachers using these techniques in the urban area than in the rural area. The next finding was that most of the teachers report of a wish to be educated about this topic. Lastly, we examined the assesment of meditation on the four aspects of a child's development and have found out that teachers asses the influence very high. What is most important is that those, who are already using these techniques, assesed the influence of meditation much higher than those who are not using them.
