Title:The use of artificial intelligence among additional professional assistance providers in kindergarten
Abstract:The master thesis explores the views of additional professional assistance providers in Slovenian kindergartens on artificial intelligence, especially the ChatGPT tool, when working with children with special needs and those identified as at-risk children. The purpose of the research was to determine their familiarity with the tool, the frequency and methods of use, self-perceived competence, concerns, and possibilities and problems perceived by professional providers when using artificial intelligence as part of additional professional assistance in kindergartens. A quantitative method with a questionnaire was used, which included 86 educators. The results showed that additional professional assistance providers in kindergartens are familiar with ChatGPT, but its use when working with children is limited - it is used mainly as a tool for obtaining ideas and information, and less for specific pedagogical planning. The key challenges listed by kindergarten educators include the unreliability of information as well as ethical concerns, such as data security and privacy. ChatGPT in the context of additional professional assistance in preschool education is seen as a complementary tool, however, it cannot replace expert knowledge, pedagogical judgment, and human interaction.
