Abstract:V magistrskem delu z naslovom Učinki uporabe zaslonov na razvoj težav v vedenju, čustvovanju in socialnih odnosih pri predšolskih otrocih smo želeli raziskati, kako pogostost rabe zaslonov vpliva na duševni razvoj otroka, posebej na težave na čustvenem, vedenjskem in socialnem področju.

Title:Effects of screen use on the development of behavioural, emotional and social difficulties in preschool children
Abstract:This master's thesis investigates the effects of screen use on the psychological development of preschool children, with particular emphasis on behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. The study examines how frequency of screen use-such as television viewing and video gaming-affect children's behaviour, emotions and social relationships. It further explores the relationship between parents' and children's screen use, the extent of parental supervision over screen content and the overall impact of screen exposure on psychological development. The research included 214 parents who completed anonymous online questionnaires. Findings indicate that daily screen use exceeding one hour is associated with an impact on the psychological development of children aged five to six years. However, no significant effects were observed in relation to emotional, behavioural or social development in this age group. Among children up to the age of four, neither television viewing nor video gaming was associated with behavioural, emotional or social difficulties. In contrast, children aged five to six demonstrated an elevated risk of difficulties in these domains. A positive correlation was identified between parental and child screen use, with higher parental screen time predicting higher usage among children. Parents reported supervising the content their children viewed and most perceived screen use as having both positive and negative effects.
