Abstract:Sodobna avtomatizacija pri pobiranju majhnih sadežev, kot so npr. maline, zahteva razvoj mehkih prijemal z izjemno občutljivimi taktilnimi senzorji, ki omogočajo nadzor sile prijemala in zmanjšujejo poškodbe pridelka.

Title:Optical fiber tactile sensor: a case study in picking of small fruits
Abstract:Modern automation in picking small fruits, such as raspberries, requires the development of soft grippers equipped with highly sensitive tactile sensors to minimize produce damage. This master's thesis presents the design and characterization of an optical fiber tactile sensor based on Fabry-Perot Interferometry (FPI). The sensor integrates four independent FPI measuring units embedded in a flexible elastomer membrane, mimicking the sense of human touch. It is intended for force-controlled grasping, relying on a biomimetic principle. Experimental measurements confirmed high repeatability and sensitivity, as the sensor is capable of reliably detecting forces down to 1,5 mN. The developed system offers a robust solution for precise handling of delicate produce in automated agricultural systems.
