Analizirani so bili s pomočjo deskriptivne statistike in Mann-Whitneyjevega U-testa.

Title:Gender differences in children's competitiveness in physical activities in early childhood
Abstract:Children encounter competitive situations in early childhood, which are often included in daily movement activities in kindergarten. A child's experiences of victory, defeat, empathy and relationships with peers are also connected to competition. The thesis deals with the differences in competition between the sexes in the movement activities of children in early childhood. The theoretical part presents the development of the movement, the concept of competition and the role of gender. The empirical part is based on research carried out in one of the Slovenian private kindergartens, which included 27 children aged 3 to 6 years (15 girls and 12 boys) and 5 educators. Data was collected using a structured observation rating scale, interviews with children and questionnaires for educators. They were analysed using descriptive statistics and the Mann-Whitney U-test. The results of the research showed that there are differences between the sexes in the expression of competitiveness, especially in the field of physical behaviour and emotional experience, where boys achieved higher values and more intense reactions. Social behavior did not differ significantly between the sexes, which indicates similar social competences in boys and girls in the kindergarten environment. The findings of the research confirm the importance of the influence of the environment and educational approaches on the expression of competitiveness and help to better understand the competitive behaviour of children in early childhood.
