Abstract:V teoretičnem delu diplomske naloge smo predstavili govor, teorije o govoru, faze govornega razvoja, dejavnike in dejavnosti za spodbujanje le-tega, pomen branja in otroško literaturo. Podatki so bili obdelani kvalitativno.

Title:Coherence in the Narratives of Children Aged 4 to 6
Abstract:The theoretical part of my thesis deals with a presentation of speech, speech theories, the stages of speech development, the factors and activities that promote it, the importance of reading, and children's literature. It also defines storytelling, in particular theoretical aspects, storytelling in children, as well as coherence and cohesion. The empirical part examined coherence in the stories of children aged 4 to 6. It investigated whether there were differences in coherence between younger and older children, whether younger children demonstrated lower levels of coherence (up to and including the third level) while older children demonstrated higher levels (the fourth and fifth levels), and whether there were any gender differences within individual age groups. The research was conducted using the picture book "Mr. Constantine’s Hat" by Peter Svetina and the five levels of coherence developed by Ljubica Marjanovič Umek, Urška Fekonja, and Simona Kranjc. A causal non-experimental method was applied. The study included 36 children, with a qualitative analysis of the data being carried out. The findings showed that younger children, aged 4 to 5, most frequently achieved the third level of coherence, whereas older children, aged 5 years and 1 month to 6 years, most frequently achieved the fifth level. No significant differences were found between boys and girls.
