Abstract:Slovenska ljudska glasba predstavlja pomemben del kulturne dediščine in ima v predšolskem obdobju pomembno vlogo pri oblikovanju otrokovega odnosa do ljudskega izročila.

Title:Listening to Slovenian folk music in kindergarten
Abstract:Slovenian folk music represents an important part of cultural heritage and plays an important role in the preschool period in shaping children's attitudes towards folk tradition. This diploma thesis examines listening to Slovenian folk music in kindergarten. The purpose of the thesis was to examine the responses of children in the second age group to guided listening to Slovenian folk music, to identify changes in their knowledge and interest, and to explore preschool teachers' opinions on the inclusion of folk music in pedagogical work. A descriptive method of empirical pedagogical research with a mixed-methods approach was used. The study included 98 children from five kindergarten groups and ten preschool teachers. Data were collected using a structured observation scale and semi-structured interviews, and were analysed using descriptive statistics and qualitative content analysis. The results showed that the children mostly responded positively to the activities, particularly through attention, movement, singing, rhythmic accompaniment, participation, and interest in musical instruments. Their knowledge of folk songs, rhythm, melodies, and instruments gradually developed during the activity, while the origin of individual folk songs, their meaning, and their connection with folk customs, holidays, dances, and ways of life in the past were less familiar to them. Differences between the age groups were also identified, as older children participated more often verbally, while younger children engaged in the activities mainly through listening, observing the performance, and imitating movements. The preschool teachers assessed the inclusion of Slovenian folk music as important, but insufficiently systematically present.
