Abstract:Problematika odpadkov predstavlja pomemben okoljski izziv sodobne družbe, zato ima okoljska vzgoja pomembno vlogo pri oblikovanju odgovornega ravnanja učencev.

Title:Effects of kinesthetic teaching approach on fourth-grade students' understanding, motivation, and attitudes toward waste separation
Abstract:The issue of waste represents an important environmental challenge in contemporary society; therefore, environmental education plays an important role in shaping pupils' responsible behaviour. Active teaching approaches, such as the kinesthetic teaching approach, are expected to enable greater pupil involvement in the learning process and connect learning with direct experience. The aim of this master's thesis was to explore the effects of kinesthetic teaching approach on fourth-grade pupils' understanding, motivation, and attitudes towards waste separation. A total of 45 fourth-grade pupils from Rače Primary School participated in the quasi-experimental study. Pupils in the experimental group learned about waste separation through the kinesthetic teaching approach, whereas the control group learned through a predominantly traditional teaching approach. The results showed no statistically significant differences between the groups in the overall post-test knowledge score or in attitudes towards waste separation. In the analysis of individual motivation items, pupils in the experimental group rated the attractiveness of the tasks and their willingness to participate in similarly designed lessons more positively; however, these results cannot be interpreted as evidence of higher overall intrinsic motivation. The results do not confirm a general advantage of the kinesthetic teaching approach in terms of knowledge or attitudes, but they indicate a more positive perception of certain aspects of the lesson. Due to the small convenience sample, the one-time implementation, and the limitations of the measurement, the findings should be interpreted as preliminary.
